Sheriff Country pulled in about 7.7 million viewers in Nielsen Live Plus 7-day multiplatform ratings after its premiere episode. That number climbed past 10 million viewers using 35-day multiplatform viewership data soon after.

The show did 33 percent better in its Friday 8 p.m. time slot than the previous occupant, the Shemar Moore drama S.W.A.T. CBS quickly took notice of those strong numbers and acted fast.

CBS renewed Sheriff Country for Season 2 on December 3, 2025, after only six episodes had aired. That early vote of confidence showed just how much the network believed in the show and its star.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach praised the show for its character-driven storytelling and exceptional talent on both sides of the camera. Season 2 is expected to return in fall 2026 in the same Friday night time slot.
