Ryan Reynolds acquired an ownership stake in Aviation Gin in 2018 and became closely involved in the brand’s advertising and creative direction. In 2020, Diageo acquired Aviation’s parent company in a deal valued at up to $610 million, including potential performance-based payments. That figure represented the total value of the transaction, not Reynolds’s personal payout.

Reynolds also became a minority owner of Mint Mobile in 2019 and played a prominent role in its marketing. In 2023, T-Mobile agreed to acquire Ka’ena Corporation, Mint Mobile’s parent company, in a transaction valued at up to $1.35 billion. Reynolds received proceeds based on his ownership stake, but the exact amount was not publicly disclosed.

Taylor Swift lost the rights to her first six albums after her old label sold them without her consent. Rather than accept defeat, she launched a bold plan to re record those old albums herself.

Her re recorded versions, labeled Taylor’s Version, outsold the originals and pulled fan attention away from the masters she did not own. In 2025 she finally bought those original masters back for herself for good.

That single decision relaunched his career and helped build the massive Marvel movie universe that followed after. Downey became one of the highest paid actors in the world, proving that comebacks can pay off enormously.

George Clooney and his friends started Casamigos tequila for personal use, never planning to sell it commercially. The brand grew quickly once they released it publicly, becoming one of the fastest growing tequilas in America.

In 2017 Clooney sold Casamigos to Diageo for up to one billion dollars total. The deal made him Hollywood’s highest paid actor the following year, all thanks to an unexpected side project turned tequila empire.

Dwayne Johnson launched Teremana Tequila in March 2020, just as pandemic restrictions disrupted bars and restaurants. Despite the difficult timing, the brand grew rapidly and became one of the fastest-growing new spirits labels in the United States.

By 2023, Teremana had surpassed one million nine-liter cases in annual sales. That milestone placed it among a relatively small group of tequila brands selling at that scale. However, Casamigos was still selling more cases, so the claim that Teremana had surpassed it “by a wide margin” is inaccurate.

Teremana has not announced a sale or an independently verified $3.5 billion valuation. Some commentators have estimated that the brand could eventually command a multibillion-dollar price by comparing its growth with earlier tequila acquisitions, but such figures remain speculative.
